The F27 Friendship Association was founded March 26, 1987 and has the following mission: "by flying the planes, we take care of the Fokker heritage" By: "in a governing and organisational way giving support to the Foundation "Fokker Heritage Trust" as well as contributing to the fulfilment of its aims. This will be done in close cooperation with the National Aviation Museum Aviodrome"
In 1992 we took to the air for the first time, with ex-NLM CityHopper and Icelandair F27 planes, rented from ATF. All in all we flew with 10 different Friendships, the last one being the PH-KFG. On September 30, 1995 we reached an agreement with WDL to purchase the 10102, better known as the F-3. After that the plane had been spray painted in a new coat, and after the Open House at the KLu ( Royal Netherlands Air Force ) the F-3 was ferried to a maintenance company in Eindhoven for major work. Because of a take-over and subsequent bankruptcy of the company this large project was halted. After this temporary housing was found at the Royal Netherlands Air Force Base Eindhoven. But this could not last forever and thus the FFA Board decided to move the PH-NVF to the former Fokker grounds at Schiphol East. This move happened on August 15, 2001. The F-3 was parked here temporarily, awaiting the next restoration. In 2003 FFA volunteers gave the plane a thorough cleaning. It then became apparent, that the plane had weathered the ravages of time and staying outside fairly well. August 27, 2003 was the date for still another transport. This time to the Aeronautical Theme Park Aviodrome at Lelystad. With the heavy equipment of the Saan firm the plane was put on a barge, together with more Aviodrome planes, and by water-transport moved to Harderwijk; after that the remainder of the F-3's trip was done by flatbed trailer. The plane is now displayed in the large hall of the Museum. Now, the PH-NVF is owned by the Fokker Heritage Trust. The FHT is for 50% owned by the Aviodrome and for 50% owned by the FFA.
